Therapy for people leaving high-control religions, toxic families, and identity suppression

You may be untangling guilt, fear, or confusion after growing up in a controlling environment.

I help you rebuild trust in yourself, reclaim autonomy, and create a life that actually feels like yours.

Do you recognize yourself?

You’re questioning your religion, upbringing, or belief system

You were taught to suppress your identity or instincts

You struggle with boundaries, people-pleasing, or self-trust

You’re LGBTQ+ and your background made it harder to accept yourself

You feel guilt or fear when you try to think for yourself

You feel like you lost yourself in a family, culture, or system

If this resonates, there’s nothing wrong with you - your environment shaped you this way

How therapy works

Some people come to therapy already understanding their patterns - but still feel stuck.

That’s because these patterns were formed in relationships, not just thoughts.

In our work together, we focus on:

1. Feeling safe enough to question → so your body no longer reacts with fear, guilt, or shutdown

2. Understanding the parts of you that protect you → including the parts that keep you “in line” or afraid to change

3. Healing through real connection → where you can be seen, heard, and not judged

4. Rebuilding your sense of self → so your choices begin to feel like your own

People often begin therapy feeling:

confused

divided inside

unsure what they believe or want

build relationships that are mutual - not controlling

guilty

Over time, they begin to:

trust their thoughts and feelings

feel more grounded and less reactive

set boundaries without overwhelming guilt

reconnect with identity, desire, and direction

My Approach

I combine Relational Intelligence (RI) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to explore your nervous system and the various parts of you that have worked diligently to help you function.

The core elements of our work

SAFETY AND REGULATION

This is the element of settling - where your body feels a little more supported and a little less alone.

What this includes:

Co-regulation through presence, bodily awareness of feelings and sensations, and therapist attunement to your nervous system’s needs

Understanding your nervous system’s patterns

Helping protective parts feel respected, not pushed

Why it matters:

Safety becomes something you can feel, not just imagine

RELATIONAL REPAIR

Healing in the relational space between us through presence, and being seen and heard.

What this includes:

Experiencing steady, warm connection

Repairing moments of disconnection in real time

Letting parts feel seen, heard, and emotionally accompanied

Why it matters:

Your system learns that connection can be safe, mutual, and steady.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR PARTS

A turning inward to meet the parts of you that protect, the parts that carry pain, and the parts longing for connection.

What this includes:

Meeting protectors with curiosity

Gently approaching younger parts holding old wounds

Understanding how emotional neglect shaped your inner world

Why it matters:

You begin to understand yourself with compassion instead of self-blame

INTEGRATION AND SELF-LEADERSHIP

A returning to your own clarity, groundedness, and inner leadership.

What this includes:

Strengthening Self-energy

Expressing needs and boundaries with more ease

Living from a steadier, more connected sense of self

Why it matters:

You begin to move through the world from who you are - not from old survival strategies.

Ready for change?

Seeking out therapy means you’re ready for something to move, change, or heal. The deep work is done through human connection, and I’m looking forward to helping you see it through.
